Abe & Phil’s Last Poker Game coming to select theaters January 12
Actor Paul Sorvino joined Good Morning San Diego to talk about his upcoming film Abe & Phil’s Last Poker Game.
Synopsis: When Dr. Abe Mandelbaum (Martin Landau) moves into the nursing home, Cliffside Manor, with his deteriorating wife Molly, he forms an improbable relationship with gambler and womanizer, Phil Nicoletti (Paul Sorvino). Even though at first Abe feels that moving into the home is the end of the road, he soon realizes that his life is finding a whole new beginning. Abe and Phil’s friendship is challenged when a mysterious nurse claims that her biological father resides in the home. Without children of their own, both Abe and Phil jump at the chance to convince Angela, and themselves, that they are her father.
Abe & Phil’s Last Poker Game was an official selection of the 2017 Tribeca Film Festival and now it’s coming to theatres in select cities and Video on Demand on January 12 from Gravitas Ventures.
Sorvino is an actor, opera singer, businessman, writer, and sculptor who has appeared in over 150 movies, most notably as Paulie Cicero in Goodfellas. In his newest film, the dramedy Abe and Phil’s Last Poker Game, he stars with the late Martin Landau. The film debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival where Pete Hammond of Deadline Hollywood praised it as “touching and funny.”
