Kelly Ryan
Kelly Ryan joined the KUSI NEWS team in August of 2007. She currently anchors the 6, 10 and 11 p.m. KUSI weekend newscasts and reports for the evening newscasts during the week.
Kelly is a graduate of UC Berkeley and Stanford’s Mass Media Institute. While at Stanford, she worked as an intern at KPIX in San Francisco. She left for her first on air job at KGET in Bakersfield, CA. She later became the consumer reporter and anchor of the 6 and 11 o’clock news. A morning anchor job at KCRA in Sacramento followed. After reporter/anchor jobs at KUSA in Denver, CO and WCNC in Charlotte, NC, Kelly’s career path then turned to the FOOD NETWORK. There she began producing and writing for shows such as UNWRAPPED and FOOD CHALLENGE which took her across the country and internationally as well. KGO-TV in San Francisco brought her back to reporting and anchoring the news in 2005. During her news career she has covered numerous national stories including California earthquakes, wildfires, floods and the tragedy at Columbine in Colorado. She has interviewed newsmakers including several sitting Presidents, Caesar Chavez, Arnold Schwarzenegger and the artist Christo while covering his umbrella/art constellation. She has also covered a number of health and fitness issues and stories including the training of the Discovery Channel Pro Cycling Team and the inspiring story of the first blind mountain climber to reach the top of Mount Everest. Kelly was born in Los Gatos, CA. |
