Joe Lizura

Joe Lizura
Joe Lizura arrived on San Diego television in 1990 as one of the city’s only AMS certified meteorologists. Deeply committed to community involvement, Lizura has spoken to tens of thousands of local students over the past 17 years about weather, science, and careers. He has set up weather networks for dozens of schools and hundreds of students across San Diego County.

“I’m thrilled to be joining the respected KUSI NEWS team,” says Lizura.
“No group of news people is more highly regarded locally.”

His charity work has included many groups, including Rady’s Children’s Hospital, Toys for Tots, the MS Society, Alzheimer’s Foundation, Salvation Army and numerous scholarship programs.

“I love spending my time helping other people in San Diego. Whether it’s a fundraiser for a good cause, or speaking to a lunch meeting with the Kiwanis, I love being able to help.” Over the past 17 years, Lizura has helped organizations raise millions of dollars.

Joe Lizura is a native of New Jersey, having graduated from Rutgers University with a BS in Atmospheric and Oceanic Science, a BA in Communications and Human Relations and a BA in Advertising.

Lizura has worked in Indiana, on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, Northern California, Ohio, and of course, San Diego. “I have been in the middle of it all…hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, fires, earthquakes, and blizzards,” he says. “It’s the weather, and I love every minute of it!”
