10 years since 2007 wildfires: How far have we come? Video included

Wednesday marked the 10th anniversary of the devastating 2007 wildfires and the massive fires in Northern California are a tragic reminder that it could happen here again.

Recovering from 2007 wildfires: San Diego Fire-Rescue Department

The 2007 California wildfire season saw more than 9,000 separate wildfires that charred more than 1 million acres of land.

It's been 10 years this week since the largest — the Witch Creek Fire — burned nearly 2,000 acres and took the lives of two people, injuring dozens including firefighters.

KUSI was joined by Chief Brian Fennessy, Chief Tony Mecham and Chief Brett Van Wey of the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

    At the luncheon, guests enjoyed a fashion show and had the chance to purchase designer clothing handpicked from the Salvation Army thrift stores. 

    Women who are current rehabilitation patients modeled the fashions and shared their stories of new-found sobriety.
