Earthquakes, fires and floods can happen unexpectedly. You can't always prevent an emergency, but you can be prepared for them. KUSI's Doug Curlee has these helpful tips.

Help a parent create a special plan for your family so everybody knows what to do and where to go.

Work together to create an emergency kit stocked with important supplies, like a first aid kit, drinking water and a flashlight.

Make sure everyone in your family knows an alternate exit from your house, in case of a fire.
