Broken Trash Cans Pinch City Residents
KUSI's Michael Turko is hearing from lots of angry viewers about San Diego's new trash collection policy. Turko says they're getting charged for special trash cans under a new ordinance that took effect January 1st.
Under a People's Ordinance passed back in 1919, the City of San Diego can't charge for trash pickup. So when the City Council got desperate for money last year, they decided to charge the taxpayers for the high tech trash cans the city uses instead. And if anything happens to it, you have to buy a new one. Even if the city breaks it, you have to pay! It ain't right! |
