Big Bureaucracy Jeopardizes North County Man's Legs
Tuesday, April 22, 2008 - A North County man called KUSI's Michael Turko over a battle with Medi-Cal that could cost him his legs. His doctor tells Turko he could make a full recovery with a little help from the state.
This is one of the most bazaar medical cases Turko's ever seen. Here's a guy with a bum foot who's about to lose his leg. He can't work so he's on Medi-Cal. They're willing to pay for an amputation and an artificial leg. But they won't pay for special shoes his doctor says could prevent all that. It ain't right! |
