Street Sweeping Story Off To Rocky Start
Thursday, May 8, 2008 - KUSI's Michael Turko is getting dozens of calls from San Diego City residents about a new plan to increase street sweeping. Turko says it's concentrated in neighborhoods above Mission Bay and San Diego Bay, it'll cost almost a million dollars, and it's causing major parking hassles.
The pilot program serves a noble purpose, but no one bothered to tell local residents about that ahead of time. It's a test to see if extra street sweeping will reduced polluted runoff that goes down storm sewers into our bays. but it means lots of new no parking zones in high density neighborhoods. Nobody likes that, and this whole deal got off to a really rocky start. |
