Section Eight Sewage Nightmare
Monday, April 27, 2009 - Desperate tenants called KUSI's Michael Turko when they got stuck in a Section Eight nightmare. Turko says the government program helps them pay their rent, but the government doesn't own the apartment building.
Section Eight is a government program that allows low income families to rent homes from private owners. The tenant pays a small fraction of the rent, and the government pays the rest. But when something goes wrong, it's the private owners responsibility and the tenants can get left with nowhere to turn. |
