Property Tax Re-Assessment Scam
Monday, May4, 2009 - KUSI's Michael Turko is getting a lot of calls about a company called "Property Tax Re-Assessment." Turko says they send out official-looking notices, claiming you need to pay them a fee to get your property taxes reduced.
If you own a home and have a pulse you know property values in most neighborhoods have been going nowhere but down. And that means a lot of homeowners could get their property taxes reduced. Now here come the scammers, with notices that look like they came straight from the tax office. Only the fine print tells you they're not really a government agency at all.
