Gas prices reach highest amount since 2014 on New Year’s Day

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) — A run of nine increases in 10 days pushed the average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County to its highest amount on New Year’s Day since 2014, $3.126.

The average price has risen 6.1 cents over the past 10 days, including four-tenths of a cent on Monday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 4.1 cents more than one week ago and 31.4 cents higher than one year ago, but 6.4 cents less than one month ago.

The average price rose for three consecutive days, was unchanged on Tuesday, and resumed rising Wednesday.
