Raw Sewage From Mexico Posing Beach Health Hazards
While government officials are fixated on stemming the flow of illegal immigrants coming across the border, raw sewage continues to flow freely, making San Diegans sick and shutting down our beaches.
The problem is that Tijuana is growing rapidly, especially at the border's edge, but they do not have a sewage collection system. Half of what is collected is not treated. That's about 25 million gallons of raw sewage that flows into the estuary and the TJ river every day. Now, members of Congress have been called upon to see the problem, first-hand and to look for a solution. Congresswoman Susan Davis appeared in Imperial Beach and was told we can no longer ignore this public health threat. Click on the video icon above to see the report. |
