Amniotic Fluid New Source for Stem Cells?
Just as Congress heads for another showdown with President Bush over embryonic stem cells, new research may complicate the issue.
A report out of Wake Forest and Harvard University says stem cells can be taken from a pregnant woman's amniotic fluid, with no harm to the mother or baby. But one of California's top stem cell researchers warns this new approach is no magic bullet. The head of stem cell research at UCSD is cautiously optimistic about the new report.
