Two environmental groups released an eye-opening report Wednesday on the conditions of our beaches in San Diego. San Diego Coastkeeper and the Surfrider Foundation started keeping a tally of what they're picking up during monthly beach cleanups. Last year, the volunteers hauled away three-and-a-half tons of trash. More than half of that was plastic, which is especially harmful to the marine environment.
