Community Mourns Loss Of Popular 15-Year-Old
Tuesday, March 27, 2007- Adria Horning, a student at Canyon Crest Academy was a bright star, a talented athlete, and a generous friend.
Those who knew her cannot believe that the life of such a vivacious young girl has been so abruptly ended by meningitis. Although she was just a freshman at Canyon Crest Academy, 15 year old Adria Horning was a well known, popular student and one of the few freshman good enough to play on the girls' varsity basketball team. Meningococcal Meningitis is not a common illness in San Diego. County health officials say between 2002 and 2006, there were 85 cases in San Diego County resulting in ten deaths.
