Infant H1N1 victim is identified
SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The death of a 4-month-old girl in San Diego County
has been linked to the swine flu pandemic, health officials announced today.The infant had no known underlying medical conditions, according to the San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency. To date, there have been 33 deaths of San Diego County residents linked to the H1N1 influenza and four deaths of non-residents, according to the HHSA. The number of people hospitalized with the virus locally stands at 617. Each of the county's six public health centers and one immunization clinic have each received between 20 and 60 additional doses of injectable H1N1 vaccine, according to the HHSA. Those vaccines will be given to pregnant women. County health officials again encouraged people to stay away from work or school if they have influenza-like symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. Those with underlying medical conditions experiencing influenza-like symptoms should contact their doctor, according to the HHSA. |
