A local woman scored big on on ABC-TV show "American Inventor."

Joan Colvin got the idea for her daughter's fifth birthday in March 2004 to have the girls stuff a teddy bear with pillows and teach them positive character traits like responsibility, friendship, fairness, and courage.

Her invention landed her on the show, and she ranked in the top 24 inventions out of 10,000.
