Subway returns once again as the sponsor for the PPR's featured game. The school that wins the Subway Game of the Week enjoys a tasty treat when 18 feet of delectable deli is delivered directly to the winning locker room.
Every Tuesday following the KUSI NEWS at 6, this website will introduce the 4 Play of the Week candidates from the week prior. PPR fans will be able to watch the plays and then cast their electronic vote for the athlete(s) they feel should wear the coveted Play of the Week T-shirt. Remember, the PPR electronic polling center will accept only one vote per computer IP address.
San Diego County is a big chunk of real estate. With so many games every week, it's impossible to pick just one featured game. That is why the PPR has developed a comprehensive regional approach to covering the county. Our regional games of the week are: North County, South Bay, San Diego City & East County. The PPR hub approach ensures that you, the viewer, will get a good look at the best games every Friday night.
San Diego coaching legend John Shacklett is returning for his fourth season in a PPR Red Jacket. Coach Shacklett was originally signed to be a guest commentator in Shack's Rap. No one is more qualified to speak out on the issues surrounding San Diego high school athletes than Coach Shacklett. Shack's Rap is to the PPR what Andy Rooney is to "60 Minutes."
In 2005, we introduced Shack's Pig Pen. Offensive and defensive linemen often toil in obscurity, doing all the heavy lifting, while their more famous teammates get all the headlines. Shack's Pig Pen is designed to feature the boys in the trenches that might otherwise go unnoticed. Every kid in San Diego County knows that if you make it into Shack's Pig Pen, you've made it to the big time!
Fans of the PPR know the commercial breaks are often the best part of the show. Going into and out of the break, the cheerleaders take over! Flying acrobatics, dance steps and best of comedy skits, act as a buffer between highlights and commercials. The original material is what separates the PPR from the competition. We want your contribution, so when you see the Red Jackets arrive at your football field, let them know you are ready for PPR prime time!
The Prep Pigskin Report is always searching for the next generation of sportscasters, and that is exactly what you'll find in Pigskin Idol. Every week, a student will be featured live in-studio, narrating highlights of a select game. Some crash and burn, others shine bright. But overall, it's a high-wire act that captures the true essence of the PPR.
The football players aren't the only athletes worthy of your attention. Try playing trombone while marching in precision! Here at the PPR, we think the kids in the band are just as important as the kids on the field. That's why every Friday night, we feature one prominent high school band in the PPR Marching Scoreboard. Once again in 2008, the San Diego County Honda Dealers will donate $500 to the featured band every week.
Our coverage of San Diego high school football does not stop on the field. For those athletes that excel in the classroom, too, the PPR reserves a special Student Athlete Spotlight! Every Friday night, we'll feature one of our county's premier student athletes.
Every week the Prep Pigskin Report, along with the San Diego Chargers , will highlight a deserving San Diego county football coach. More importantly, the Chargers will donate $1,000 to the featured coach's football program. During the end of the season Silver Pigskin Gala, the PPR we will name the Coach of the Year, with the Chargers donating yet another $1,000 to the winner's program.
