Gas prices continue to rise

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County began 2011 at the highest amount for a New Year's Day, increasing nine-tenth of a cents to $3.342.

Eight increases in nine days boosted the average price to its highest amount since Oct. 16, 2008, and 3.1 cents more than a week ago, 19 cents more than a month ago and 35.3 cents more than this time last year, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
