Leslie Lopez teamed up with KUSI in May of 2011 as a reporter and weather anchor.
Prior to broadcast journalism, Leslie built a financial planning practice in Orange County. Her focus was on estate planning, wealth management and business succession planning. During this time she began writing her own marketing material and began selling this same service to colleagues. This is when her love for writing was uncovered. She quit the business a few months later and began the journey towards a new writing career.
She interned at CBS2/KCAL 9 in Los Angeles as a news writer/producer. At the time her aim was to be a news writer, but with encouragement from staff members she changed directions and pursued reporting. Today she is happy she made the switch! She still gets to write and report news stories in San Diego County.
After CBS2/KCAL 9, Leslie got the opportunity to report in Los Angeles for a weekly newscast called "This Week in Torrance." During this time her passion for news was fueled.
Quickly thereafter, she was hired at KGET, an NBC affiliate in Bakersfield, CA. She was afforded the opportunity to do weather and reporting and loved the alternating role.
In May, Leslie signed with KUSI in sunny San Diego and can't imagine a better place to be a reporter/weather anchor.
When Leslie is not working at KUSI she enjoys writing, playing indoor soccer, beach activities including surfing, and has recently taken up wood carving and playing the violin.
