Bright Future Foundation inspires local songwriter

The Bright Future Foundation was founded to help victims of domestic violence and has quickly become a leading advocacy group for non-violence.

VL Fanai is a beautician who arranges monthly visits to women's shelters and homeless shelters, bringing dozens of volunteers who help with free make-overs. The Bright Future Foundation's current goal is to get as many people as possible to take this non-violence pledge: "I pledge to be non-violent, respect my body, and the Earth." They have created thousands of Earth-tone wristbands with the pledge.

Local musician Mike McGill heard about the group and wrote a song about them, which he debuted last week at the Alpha Project in Downtown San Diego, in the middle of a B.F.F. "Day of Beauty." The song is called "I Pledge."
