LOS ANGELES (KUSI) - Representatives of the San Diego Chargers and the Oakland Raiders met with Los Angeles mayor Eric Garcetti Tuesday night to discuss bringing one or more NFL teams back to the L.A. area.
According to a spokesman for Mayor Garcetti, the meeting was requested by Chargers chairman Dean Spanos and Raiders owner Mark Davis.
"(The mayor's office) is mindful that the Chargers, Raiders, and (St. Louis) Rams are still actively discussing stadium seals in their current cities and the NFL has not yet approved a team moving to the Los Angeles area," Millman said in a prepared statement.
The meeting, according to Millman, was not held for the purpose of discussing a possible football site in downtown Los Angeles or within the city limits.
Both the Chargers and Raiders are in ongoing talks to build a joint multi-use facility in the city of Carson, while Rams owner Stan Kroenke is planning to move forward and build a stadium on the site of the former Hollywood Park.
