SAN DIEGO (KUSI) - San Diego's Police Chief, Shelley Zimmerman, met with San Diego City Council's Public Safety and Livable Neighborhoods Committee Wednesday to discuss the department's plan on reducing and preventing officer misconduct.
Zimmerman said the department has implemented 21 or 40 recommendations that came out of a federal investigation into policies and practices.
Two of those recommendations were completed in just the past couple of weeks, Chief Shelley Zimmerman told the council.
The other suggestions are in the process of being implemented, she said.
According to Zimmerman, an academy class will being next month and have 50 recruits, the largest in seven years, with 60 percent being minorities and/or women.
