San Diego Chargers celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month at Sunday's game

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) - The San Diego Chargers will join in the league-wide celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month during Sunday's game against the Cleveland Browns at Qualcomm Stadium, including halftime performances by Mariachi Real de San Diego and Ballet Xochitl, a traditional ballet folklorico group.

Mariachi Real de San Diego has performed at two Super Bowls, along with Baseball's World Series and All-Star Game.

Fanny Miller, the president and CEO of El Latino Newspaper, will receive the NFL Hispanic Heritage Award during a pregame ceremony.

A $2,000 donation to the recipient's charity of choice accompanies the award. Miller chose WeSupportU, an area cancer support organization whose goals are to improve cancer prevention, screening and survival among underserved, low- income communities and to be the comprehensive link between healthcare providers, cancer patients and their families.

The national anthem will be sung by the Mexican-American singer Frankie J, an original member of the group Kumbia Kings.
