SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – There was lots of progress to report Saturday concerning plans to change flight paths out of Lindbergh Field.
Right now when jets take off they head several miles out to sea and then turn around if heading for the East Coast. The proposed changes would have planes flying over Point Loma neighborhoods.
The FAA says the proposed flight paths would reduce fuel consumption and cut back on air pollution, but Point Loma residents say jet noise levels will rise dramatically.
Those fighting the FAA proposal say they are making progress in possibly blocking it.
The FAA has put forth similar flight path proposals in other American cities.
