The San Diego Chargers started the 2nd phase of off-season OTA's on the Monday after the draft.
The talk wasn't about the work out, but switched gears, to the surprising release of 13 year veteran punter Mike Scifres.
The Chargers drafted Texas A&M punter Drew Kaser in the 6th round. "Number 5 (Mike Scifres) is a big reason I am here," said second year kicker Josh Lambo. "But we will still hang out. I will go over to his house to see his family, and I am sure we will still go golfing together."
Scifres Posted a very emotional note on Monday after he was released thanking everyone in the organization past and present. Scifres also thanked the Chargers fans calling them the best fans in the NFL.
2011 1st round pick Corey Liuget also was paying attention to the draft, especially since the chargers selected Ohio State defensive end Joey Bosa. Bosa just happens to play Liuget's position. "I am slimming down, because I have to compete with the young guy (Joey Bosa), Said Liuget. "he has young fresh legs and he is in good shape, so I have to be ready.
The Chargers will continue OTA's on Monday May 9th.
