Thousands of riders hit the road for Bike to Work Day 2016

Thousands of bikers took to the streets Friday for  San Diego’s annual Bike to Work day.

The ride includes 101 pit stops around the county, where cyclists can enjoy refreshments while some locations provide bike tune-ups, coffee and more.

Riders can get t-shirts from pit-stops by registering for the morning ride. Volunteers will be on hand to encourage riders on their journey between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m.

A ride along the U.S.-Mexico border will commence at 4 p.m. at the San Ysidro trolley station, go to Outlets at the Border, Tijuana River Valley Regional Park and finish at the Casa Familiar at The Front gallery.

Some stops will reopen for the afternoon commute, according to SANDAG.

Provides bike tune-ups
The city of El Cajon
221 E. Main St.
Offers coffee, pastries and other treats
Sharp Memorial Hospital, Outpatient Pavilion,
3075 Health Center Drive
offers free helmets
UC San Diego
near the Price Center
The city of Chula Vista,
the Living Coast Discovery Center
and UTC Aerospace Systems
E Street and Bay Boulevard
