The San Diego Chargers started phase three of "off-season training activities" on Monday. This will be the 1st of ten practices the Bolts will have prior to their mini-camp from June 14-17.
One of the new Chargers has really impressed in the short time he has been in San Diego; that is offensive lineman Matt Slauson. The free agent pick who started eight games for the Chicago Bears at center in 2015, stepped right in and is penciled in as the starter at center for the Chargers. His teammates love his demeanor which is described as throwback, old-school and nasty.
Cornerback Brandon Flowers had the line of the day at the podium when asked about mentally forgetting about his rough 2015. "It's like the 'Men in Black' switch where I can just knock it out," said Flowers.
While it's just day 1 of OTA's, head coach Mike McCoy is already getting the Chargers prepared for game one at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. While the Chargers were on offense he blasted the Chiefs Tomahawk Chop song over the loudspeakers during the 11-on-11 drills, causing rookie tight end Hunter Henry jumped off-sides.
"We have got to deal with that (the noise); that is why we start from day 1," said McCoy.
