SAN DIEGO (KUSI) — The San Diego Chargers are saying thank you to San Diego Wednesday so players, coaches and cheerleaders are hitting the streets to give thanks to the local community.

Seven caravans of players, coaches, staff and Charger Girls will make surprise visits between noon and 3 pm., the Chargers said. Fans can follow along using the hashtag #THANKYOUSD, which the organization will be using to tweet from their locations.

“We're taking this opportunity to thank fans for caring about the team and invite them to share our excitement about the 2016 season,'' said Chargers President A.G. Spanos.

Team executives said they've done this several times in the past, most recently three years ago.

The Chargers are currently collecting signatures for a proposed ballot measure that, if passed, would lead to construction of a downtown stadium and convention center annex.
