Tri-City Christian Eagles 12 vs Classical Academy Caimans 33
By Taylor Cratty
The Tri-City Christian Eagles hosted Classical Academy tonight for a league game as well as Homecoming for Tri-City Christian. Going into this game Tri-City was 6-1 having only lost to Bishop, and Classical Academy was 3-4. After tonight’s upset however, the Caimans were able to come out with a win after beating the Eagles 33-12.
Classical Academy definitely came prepared to knock the Eagles off their 6-1 winning streak. In the first half of the game, Caiman running back Ty Patterson scored 3 touchdowns giving the Eagles a run for their money. They soon answered back when Quarterback Zach Reitmeyer kept the ball getting a touchdown and putting points up on the board. Going into the half the Caimans led 20-6.
After the half both teams defenses stopped many plays from being completed as well as causing many turnovers that could have been touchdowns. The eagles were able to come back and score another touchdown by Quarterback Zach Reitmeyer threw a 40 yard touchdown pass to Matt Clark. Classical Academy answered back by scoring a field goal as well as another touchdown in the fourth quarter giving them another win 33-12.
The underdogs were able to come out with a win and took down a team that was 6-1 on their home field as well as making Classical Academy 2-0 in their league. We can’t wait to see what the rest of the season has in store for these tough playing teams.
PREVIEW: The Tri- City Christian Eagles will host the Caimans from Classical Academy at home as they play to improve their record to 7-1. The Eagles have a very strong team as they go up against Classical Academy who is 3-4.
It is not hard to understand why Tri-City has such a good record this late into the season because of how strong their passing game is. Quarterback Zach Reitmeyer has played a big role in getting his team their 6 wins throwing for 1,274 yards and completing 14 touchdowns passing, and is also not afraid to hold the ball himself in order to gain yards. While the quarterback plays a big role in this game, he is not the only one helping this team. Running back Anthony Madden leads the Eagles in rushing yards having carried the ball for 931 yards in the 7 games played this season. And let’s not forget about those catching passes from Reitmeyer like sophomore Christian Salibo who has caught for 378 yards and 19 passes.
Going into this game the Caiman’s from Classical Academy are 1-0 in their league after a win last week against Army-Navy. After defeating Army-Navy 35-13, Classical Academy should feel very motivated as they head into their next league game. While the Caiman’s don’t throw the ball as much as Tri-City, their running game is strong. Senior Ty Patterson has rushed for 238 yards in both games he has played.
