Mission Bay Buccaneers 55, Scripps Ranch Falcons 25

Posted: Updated:

The Mission Bay Buccaneers had an impressive win on homecoming and senior night, as they beat the Scripps Ranch Falcons 55-25.

It started out with Scripps Ranch getting on the board first, thanks to a 1 yard Jordan Batts’ touchdown run.  After a 27 yard field goal made by the Falcons, the game turned in favor of the Bucs.

Mission Bay scored 4 unanswered touchdowns in the first half.  Joseph Duran and Charles Hicks had 1 TD run apiece and Kenyon Sims had 2 TD runs.  The score was 28-10 heading into halftime.

The Falcons opened up scoring in the second half with a safety.  But Joseph Duran added another 9 yard TD pass and a 4 yard scoring pass from QB Trevor Scully in the third quarter.

The Bucs went on to add another two scores to bring the final to 55-15, Mission Bay.  That means they earned their first win in the City Eastern conference and are one step away from a .500 record.  The Falcons, however, drop to 3-6 and are still looking to earn a league win.

Next week, the Falcons return home to face the Lincoln Hornets.  The Buccaneers will travel to take on the Christian Patriots.

PREVIEW: Week 10 of the Prep Pigskin Report will feature the Red Jackets and our Pigskin Idol traveling to Mission Bay High School to watch the Buccaneers take on the Scripps Ranch Falcons.

It’s a City Eastern conference game for the two schools.  This will be a fight to the finish as both Mission Bay and Scripps Ranch are winless in league play.  Bringing their equal records into this game should make for a hard fought battle.

Mission Bay (3-5) is currently on a 3 game losing streak.  Last week, they lost to Morse by a score of 59-24.  Despite a strong first half by the Bucs, they were unable to keep up with the Tigers to close out the game.

Scripps Ranch (3-5) is also trying to snap a 3 game losing streak.  They are coming off of a 61-7 loss against Christian High School last week.

The previous time these teams played each other was Week 8 of last year.  Mission Bay won that game, 34-21.

Game time is 6 p.m. this Friday at Mission Bay High School.  Tune in as our Pigskin Idol reads the highlights from this game on KUSI’s Prep Pigskin Report, Friday night at 10:30 p.m.
