Preview: Granite Hills Eagles vs. Monte Vista Monarchs - KUSI News - San Diego, CA

Granite Hills Eagles 35; Monte Vista Monarchs 14

Posted: Updated:

The Granite Hills Eagles took home the victory on Friday night over the Monte Vista Monarchs 35-14. The Monarchs came out to start the game with a first possession touchdown drive. The Eagles responded on their opening drive and never looked back. Eagle’s quarterback Jacob Siegfried was unstoppable as he finished with 193 rushing yards with 2 touchdowns, and 113 passing yards with 1 touchdown. Monte Vista’s Jahmon McClendon had a great game as he tacked on two touchdowns and had some big plays. Granite Hills defense second half seemed to be a whole another team than their first half as they made huge stops and even had a defensive fumble recovery touchdown by Noah Joubert. With that Eagles victory, they have earned the title as league champs. The Santana Sultans can get a share of that league champs if the the Eagles lose next week. Granite Hills will head to El Cajon Valley to face the braves to try and finish off their league play undefeated. The Monte Vista Monarchs will head to valley center for a non-league match up to close out their regular season. Tune in to KUSI’s Prep Pigskin Report next Friday night at 10:30 P.M. to find out if Granite Hills will claim league champs by themselves.

Preview: As we come close to the end of regular season, teams are eager for victories in order to win a league title. That is the case for both the Granite Hills Eagles (4-4) (2-0) and the Monte Vista Monarchs (6-2) (2-1). Last week the Granite Hills Eagles pulled off a victory over the Mount Miguel Matadors. The Monte Vista Monarchs beat the El Cajon Valley Braves 26-14. Last season was last time these two teams faced each other and the Eagles won 30-0 over the Monarchs.

The Monarchs are led by star player Rashaun Willis Brown on offense and defense. Standing at only 5 feet 3 inches tall, Willis-Brown has a ridiculous burst of speed and great tackling skills. Jose Gonzalez will also be in the backfield sharing carries. The Eagles are led by senior quarterback Jake Siegfried. Siegfried has found success throwing to his favorite target Tyler Gonzalez.

If the Eagles come out with a victory they will be sitting in first place by themselves. If the Monarchs come out on top, there will be a 3-way tie for first place between Monte Vista, Granite Hills, & Santana with one week left of regular season to play. Will the Eagles continue on their 3 game winning streak, or will the Monarchs get the win and complicate the league title? Tune in to KUSI’S Prep Pigskin Report at 10:30 P.M. on Friday night to find out.
