Posted: Updated:

The La Jolla Vikings were just a touchdown shy of their third consecutive shut out in tonight’s conference matchup against the University City Centurions. However they walked away on the up side with the 49-8 victory and advance to 5-4 while the Centurions fall to 4-5.

Vikings taking an early lead, on the first drive of the game quarterback Cole Dimich found running back Daniel Mccoll for an 18- yard touchdown pass to put the Vikings on the board 7-0.  Dimich would connect with wide receiver Tanner Watson to make it a 14-point game

The Vikings were just getting started, still in the first quarter Dimich found running back Alex Dockery who would break through the defenders taking the ball 52 -yards, just shy of the end zone The explosive run set Dockery up with perfect field position to then run it in for a touchdown giving the Vikings an early 21-0 lead after the first quarter.  Dockery was just heating up, in the second quarter, Centurions would punt the ball and none other then Dockery on the punt return. He proceeded to run the ball in for a 54 -yard touchdown. Dockery would go on to connect with Dimich two more times on the evening, both 8-yard touchdowns.

However not before Dimich would visit the end zone himself. In the third quarterback Dimich with the quart back keeper would take the ball 24- yards into the endzone and make it a 42-0 game.

In the fourth quarter the Centurions would get on the board, however it was just not enough time to comeback on the Vikings.

Looking ahead to the final game of the regular season. The Vikings will have an away conference game against Hoover, and the Centurions will finish the season at home against Crawford!

PREVIEW: `We have reached double digits. As week ten of the Prep Pig Skin Report is Report is just over the horizon. Teams are just two games away from ending their regular season. In their second to last game, the La Jolla Vikings host the University City Centurions in a conference game Friday night.

Both teams are sitting at 4-4 on the season. However University City has an edge up in the league with a 2-1 record. They sit in second place, behind Patrick Henry. The Vikings hold third with one win and one loss in the league.

The Centurions are prepping for their fourth consecutive conference game. They are coming off of a 34-14 loss to Patrick Henry. However, despite the loss, the quarterback could be a force to be reckoned with. Kees Van Daelen finished last week’s game with 124 passing yards and two touchdown passes.

While the Vikings may sit below University City in the league rankings, they are by no means far behind the Centurions when it comes to talented athletes. The Vikings are currently on a role, not only are they coming off of two consecutive wins, but two consecutive shutouts. Last week they beat Kearny 46-0, the previous week they beat Serra 32-0.

To prevent another Vikings shut out the Centurions will have to be all over the Vikings running game. In last weeks matchup with Kearny, even though Vikings quarterback Cole Dimich had 129 receiving yards, all touchdowns were rushing. Daniel Mccoll finishing with two of the five touchdowns.

With Thanksgiving around the corner will the Vikings role out a turkey with their third consecutive shutout, or will the Centurions maintain ahead in the league. Tune into the Prep Pig Skin Report Friday at 10:30 to find out!
