The Carlsbad Lancers will now advance to 2-7 after defeating the Wildcats from El Camino 38-27.
Both of these teams put up a lot of points starting in the first quarter after a big mistake was made by El Camino. A bad snap for the punt kicker caused the ball to be caught by a Lancer, Nate Coe, who scored the first touchdown of the game. El Camino answered back with a touchdown their next possession with a 3 yard touchdown run by Chris Brown.
Into the second quarter more mistakes made by both teams but Carlsbad was able to take a bigger league scoring two more touchdowns and a field goal. El Camino scored two field goals going into the half 24-10 Carlsbad.
After halftime El Camino came back and scored two touchdowns but that still was not good enough to catch up with Carlsbad, after they scored an additional touchdown mid quarter. The score going into the fourth quarter was 31-27 and Carlsbad was on the three yard line where they scored another touchdown. Late in the quarter Carlsbad threw an interception to El Camino where they had potential of scoring one last touchdown before the end of the game. Carlsbad’s defense was able to hold them to win the game.
PREVIEW: The Carlsbad Lancers will take on the El Camino Wildcats in a conference game at home as they move on to week 10. The Lancers this season are 1-7 and the Wildcats are 3-5.
On the Lancers side of the ball quarterback Isaiah Ramos has thrown for 1,241 yards, and will likely pass the ball to Raphael Cooper or Jesse Atiga, who have both caught over 300 yards this season. If Ramos isn’t throwing the ball, he’ll likely be handing it off to either running back Asa Turner or Joe Fontenot.
From the Wildcats from El Camino we are sure to see the ball ran as well as passed considering they having a very strong quarterback as well as a strong running back on their team. Quarterback Jaden Casey has thrown for a total of 1,254 yards in all 7 games he has played. Running back Chris Brown has rushed for 1,138 yards so far this season and having scored 13 touchdowns for his team. Leading receiver for the Wildcats is Wayne Steward having caught for 655 yards.
