Week 10 is in the books and you can smell the playoff season coming. Hilltop and Chula Vista trying to keep themselves in the League title picture and fighting for the Kiwanis Bowl.
It was senior night for the Lancers and they got the ball rolling as soon as the game kicked off. On the first play of the game Hilltop would run the flee flicker, RB Domonic Esparza would pitch back to QB Alex Tejeda and he would throw the 55 yard touchdown pass to Gus Ferreira, two point conversion good for an 8-0 Lead.
On Hilltops next series Tejeda would connect with Ferreira for a 13 yard touchdown pass and a 16-0 lead after the two point conversion. But Chula Vista would fight back, Sergio Figueroa would get the Spartans on the board and cut the lead in half with a 4 yard touchdown run, 16-8 after the two point conversion.
After the break Chula Vista would score on their opening drive when QB Paul Escobar would hit Daniel Mcpherren for a 53 yard touchdown pass, making it 23-16 Lancers after the two point conversion.
Hilltops Domonic Esparza would score on a 32 yard touchdown run to solidify the win.
The final 38-16 Lancers.
Hilltop wins the Kiwanis Bowl for the second straight year.
The Lancers will travel to Sweetwater to take on the Red Devils on senior night, while Chula Vista goes back home to face off with the Mar Vista Mariners next Friday.
If the Spartans are able to knock off the Mariners and Hilltop beats Sweetwater, their may be a three way tie for the League banner as all three teams will be 2-1 in league play.
It's Week 10 of the Prep Pigskin Report, but we're in Week 2 of the Metro-South Bay League battle. This week the (5-3,1-0) Chula Vista Spartans travel to the hill to take on the (4-4,0-1)Lancers of Hilltop in the Kiwanis Bowl Rivalry Game.

Last week Chula Vista came out with a victory over the Sweetwater Red Devils 40-29 under their 2nd year HC. The Lancers are on a two game losing streak but have a better record this year then at this time last year where they were 3-5. Hilltop is hungry for a league win as they fell short to the Mar Vista Mariners last week 30-29 after their kicker shanked the ball wide left with 40 seconds left in the game. The Lancers have scored 26 touchdowns lead by Senior QB Alex Tejeda with 16, 8 pf those to Gus Ferreira while Dominic Esparza controls the rushing game with 6 TD's
