Week 11 of The Prep Pigskin Report took us to Balboa Park. At Balboa Stadium we watched The Horizon Panthers host The Orange Glen Patriots for the final regular game of the season. As Horizon honored their annual ‘Senior Night’ both teams entered the game tied for league play making this Friday Night filled with excitement. It was a fight to the finish and Horizon’s Freshman Damon Schubert sealed the deal in the last 10 second, with the game- winning field goal making the final score 42-39.

Horizon started things off strong with a touchdown early in the first, Quarterback Thomas Marcus would find Jalen Nelson for the 15 yard score. Orange Glen would answer right back with a score of their own. Quarterback Blaine Bailey would march his team down the field and then call his own number for the short scoring run. Both teams missing the extra point would be tied 6-6 early in the game. Horizons Diandre Daniels had a great night, with his first touchdown of the night for 42 yard and a Panthers Score. The Patriots finished off the first quarter strong, Bailey would find teammate Malachai Russel for a 55 yard catch and run that put the score 18-12 Horizon.Later in the first half we would see Daniels with another touchdown, this time a short run from the 3 yard line.

Once the fog started rolling in, things really got intense! Thomas Marcus would find James Shannon 25 yards out, then go another 75 for The Panthers Score. Diandre Daniels would successfully complete the 2-point conversion putting them up 39-33. The Patriots fought hard to the last seconds, coming back with a touchdown to tie the game 39-39 with only over 2 minutes left in the game! Freshman Panther Damon Schubert was able to focus on the goal and managed to successfully complete a field goal in the thick fog for Horizons final win, and a final score of 42- 39.

PREVIEW: We’re headed to Balboa Stadium for Week 11 of The Prep Pigskin Report to watch the Horizon Panthers (3-6) host The Orange Glen Patriots (3-6). The final regular season game for each of these teams will surely be a fight to the finish as both teams tied (1-3) in league play want to finish the season will a final win. As the season comes to a close, The Panthers will be celebrating the class of 2017 as Friday is Senior Night!

Orange Glen is coming off a loss against undefeated Bishops last week, their defense took a hit giving up 63 points. However The Patriots offense was able to score 14 points total throughout the game. Horizon is also entering the game off a loss against La Jolla Country Day, as they met a similar fate in Week 10.Defensively they struggled giving up 66 points, although we saw Jalen Nelson recover the fumble and take it back 80 yards for the Panthers score.
