Week 11 is done and so is the regular season. Many teams still had treats from Halloween as they won league banners while other were ticked and bounced from their playoff hopes.
The Cougars of San Ysidro hosted the Raiders of Southwest in the Battle for the Golden Shovel on homecoming night at SYHS. Olivia De La Fuente was named queen while the BMOC will be crowned at tonight's dance.
But the Big Man On Campus tonight was Daishawn Lee. 5 plays into the game and Lee would take the handoff for a 62 yard touchdown run for a 7-0 lead.
There would be a couple short touchdown for both teams before the second half, and in the 3rd quarter guess who would get back on the board? Daishawn Lee with another touchdown, this time from 11 yards out to make it 22-6 Cougars.
Midway through the 3rd quarter the fog would start to roll in and blanket the field.
We would have to head to the field and in the 4th Southwest Raider Leonard Hoar would find the end zone to make this game a 3 point game, 29-26.
But San Ysidro would give the ball to Daishawn Lee as he would go 22 yards for the score and solidify the win, the final 36-26 Cougars.
With the win San Ysidro finished 5-5 and with the first league championship in school history, the Metro Pacific League title.
Playoffs start next week and the PPR has all your coverage including games that will be held in the dessert.
It's Week 11, the final week of the Prep Pigskin Report and look for it to be a good one. Just after Halloween their are several treats in store this week in the form of playoff births and league titles. This week the schedule takes me to the home of the Cougars, San Ysidro High school as they take the field against their rival, the Southwest Raiders in the "Battle for the Golden Shovel."
This year Southwest has won one more game then last year currently sitting at 2-7 and #15 in the CIF Division 5 power rankings. That sole win last year for the Raiders was a win over San Ysidro 32-24 and they took the "Golden Shovel" back home. Southwest has aloud 323 points on defense while scoring 271 points on offense.
The Cougars on the other hand are currently 4-5 and sitting in a three way tie for #7 with Calipatria and Crawford with 39.56 points. With a win, San Ysidro will lock their first league title in their schools 10 year history. They will be riding the back of running back Daishawn Lee, who had a career day to beat the Castle Park Trojans 21-20 with three touchdowns. He had touchdowns from 80, 70 and 3 yards out. San Ysidro has scored 214 points and given up 269.
To see if the Cougars win their first league title and who else gets a banner, stay tuned to the PPR this Friday night at 10:30 pm only on KUSI.
