Preview: El Cajon Ford East County Game of the Week: Valhalla Norsemen vs Helix Highlanders
Our El Cajon Ford East County Game of the Week takes us to Helix High as The Valhalla Norsemen and Helix Highlanders will face off this Friday, in the final game before the playoff season. With both teams are coming off of rivalry wins, confidence will be at a seasonal high for these teams.
Last week, Helix played Grossmont in the annual Battle of the Musket. The Highlanders and walked off with a 45-21 win over the Foothillers, and brought the musket home for a 26th consecutive time. As with weeks past, the Highlanders looked strong in their last matchup. QB Carson Baker threw a cool 100 yards, bringing his total passing yards up to 1893 yards this season. Ezekiel Noa, who has 323 rushing yards under his belt this season, scored two touchdowns for his team against the Foothillers. Also key for the Highlanders is Scott Young, who leads his team in receiving yards, and racked up 56 receiving yards last week. The Highlanders will be quite the formidable opponent for the Norsemen.
No doubt the Norsemen will be at the top of their game, as they are coming off a 21-14 win over the Steele Canyon Cougars. With only one loss tainting their season, the Norsemen are looking strong coming into this final league matchup. In Week 10, Valhalla QB Dennis Dahlin and wide receiver Jacob Paape came in clutch for their team. Together they moved the ball up the field over and over again, leading to Valhalla touchdowns. Another key player for the Norsemen is running back Jerome Johnson, who scored one of the Valhalla touchdowns against the Cougars last week. The Norsemen have a tough game ahead of them, but all the tools and talent to give Helix a run for their money.
With both teams coming off of big rivalry games and this being the last league game of the season, no doubt both teams will be playing lights out. Be sure to catch the highlights on the Prep Pigskin Report Friday night at 10:30 p.m.
