My experience as being the Prep Pigskin Idol was one I would never forget. Really it all started when I received the call saying I would be one! I didn’t think I would actually be given the opportunity to do this. Months went by and it was the week I would be on. On Wednesday I went to the studio and wrote the first part of my script with Ally Wagner. She came up with the awesome idea of me actually hitting the ball during my segment so I knew I would need to work on my aim.
The days then leading up were filled with mixed feelings. Was I nervous? Was I excited? Was I worried about embarrassing myself? I really didn’t know! Then it was game day. That was a very big day for me. The day began with a whole lot of excitement as I had just been accepted into Louisiana State University. Then it was time for the game. I met Alyssa Cronemeyer at University City High School. I had the opportunity to take pictures with UC’s senior night posters, cheerleaders from both teams, and Crawford’s JV football team. We filmed our “tease” for the idol segment (gotta say that I have some great cheerleading skills). After the game I got to interview UC and I loved the energy their entire team had for the big win.
I made my way back to the studio and Alyssa and I looked at the highlights and wrote my script really fast. I practiced and practiced until it was time for me to go on. I expected myself to be super nervous but surprisingly I wasn’t. It was the best experience of my senior year so far! It went by so quickly and I am incredibly grateful to Paul Rudy and the entire PPR crew for supporting me and giving me the opportunity to do this!
