Granite Hills Eagles 30, San Pasqual Golden Eagles 14

Posted: Updated:

The first round of Division 2 CIF Playoffs is now complete as the San Pasqual Golden Eagles and the Granite Hills Eagles battled it out with a final score of 30-14, Granite Hills on top. Both of these dominating teams played their hearts out throughout the entire game. Not one player let their guard down no matter the score.

Granite Hills started off the game with a 22-yard field goal, kicked by Bryce Strickland, leading the game 3-0. There was not a single touchdown throughout the whole 1st quarter as both defenses were dominating the entire night. The defenses from Granite Hills and San Pasqual definitely showed up to play for this CIF Playoff game. There were multiple forced fumbles, interceptions, sacks, and tackles for loss happening all night from both ends. Some very impressive plays came from Granite Hills Defensive Lineman Kyle Tinney who created a lot of chaos, causing the quarterback to struggle during his possession of the ball. We can’t forget about offense as they also had some impressive skills as well. San Pasqual’s Running Back Sam Serrato did most of the ball carrying and returning for his team. Serrato completed both touchdowns for his team, the most impressive one being a 55 yard run from the Granite Hill’s territory. From Granite Hill’s, Quarterback Jake Siegfried completed 10/15 passes with 202 passing yards, and even rushed for a total of 64 yards. Although San Pasqual fell short a couple of touchdowns, they still had a great game and never gave up once.

The Granite Hills Eagles (7-4), will now move onto the second round of Division 2 CIF Playoffs next week to take on the Olympian Eagles (6-4). Olympian will be coming off a bye week, so they must be well rested, but they also have to be ready to prepare this week for the match-up against Granite Hills.

PREVIEW: This is the 12th Week of the Prep Pigskin Report, and the San Pasqual Golden Eagles (6-4) will be going heads up with the Granite Hills Eagles (6-4). This will be the first round of Playoffs in the 2016 CIF San Diego Section, Division 2. These two teams will be going heads up in order to continue to the next round of Playoffs. San Pasqual and Granite Hills went up against each other in the beginning of the 2016 season where the Eagles won by a nail biting game, 14-12.

San Pasqual definitely must have the determination to come back when it counts and beat Granite Hills. In order to keep up with Granite Hills, San Pasqual must keep a look out for their Quarterback Jake Siegfried. You would think Jake Siegfried would be passing most of the time, yet he has the most rushing yards than anyone on the team. He has a total of 767 rushing yards as a Quarterback, and has thrown for a total of 1,280 passing yards. Last time they played, Running Back from San Pasqual, Spencer Pugh received Offensive Player of the Week for his team. Let’s hope Spencer Pugh can continue to rush as many yards as he did the last time he went up against Granite Hills. It is anyone’s game this time around.

Kick-off is at 7:00 PM this Thursday at Granite Hills High School.  Both teams will definitely need all the fans they can get to cheer them on for this playoff game, so make sure to be out there supporting your teams! Be sure to watch the Prep Pigskin Report this Friday night at 10:30 PM to catch the best highlights and more!
