Tri-City Christian and Calexico definitely played a tough game in the first quarter, and didn’t miss an opportunity when it came to interceptions and turning over the ball. Anthony Madden from TCC was able to break a few tackles and find himself in the end zone to score the first touchdown of the game. Into the beginning of the 2nd quarter Anthony Madden was able to run in another touchdown for 10 yards. Alex Rivera from Calexico scored a touchdown shortly after putting the Bulldogs on the board.
After the half the Eagles have possession of the ball and Roman Gonzalez is able to break many tackles and run the ball 46 yards to score another touchdown. Christian Salibo makes an interception from Calexico giving TCC the ball. A 50 yard pass from Zach Reitmeyer to Matt Clark puts them in bull dog territory.
Aside from the many turnovers made by both teams, Tri-City Christian played as tough as they did all season long. The Bulldogs had not made it this far into playoffs in over 30 years, and the determination this team played with really showed on the field. PREVIEW: The Tri-City Christian Eagles are coming off a win in their first round of playoffs against San Ysidro after defeating the Cougars 34-14. The Bulldogs from Calexico traveled to Palos Verde last week in their first round of playoffs to come out with a 35-6 win over the Yellow jackets. Calexico will be traveling once again this week up to Vista where they will face the Eagles at Tri-City.
Tri-City Christian has had a winning season both league and non-league games with a record of 9-2. It is no wonder the Eagles have only lost two games based off the amount of points they put up each week. Junior quarterback, Zach Reitmeyer, doesn’t hold back when it comes to passing the ball, throwing for a total of 1,670 yards this season. The Eagles are also strong when it comes to running the ball, Anthony Madden has totaled 1,090 yards rushing.
Calexico also has a strong running game that has totaled for 2,444 rushing yards this season. Leading the Bulldogs in yards is Frank Moreno who has rushed for a total of 858 yards. Frank is also the quarterback for Calexico and when he is passing the ball you will most likely see him throwing it to Andy Rojas as he has caught the ball for 451 yards.
Each of these teams undoubtedly know how to move the ball down the field and should play a great game this week. To see who will advance to the next round of playoffs, watch the Prep Pigskin Report on KUSI Friday night at 10:30 PM!
