Tate is a multi-talented young man. His football skills begin with genetics. His father, Mike Haynes, of the Raiders, who had an NFL hall of fame career, was the beginning of the family excellence, but Tate has earned all the rest. The experience as a two year starter at QB for the Cathedral Catholic Dons, has allowed Tate to develop a specific skill set that has taken him to the height of high school athletic success and on to the collegiate level.
Tate’s talents have been recognized at the major Division one level with a scholarship offer and commitment to Boston College. And proving that he is multi-talented, Tate will switch sides of the ball and play defensive back in college. Statistically, playing QB in a run oriented wing T offense, Tate has managed to stand out in QB production and success.
After 10 games of his senior season, he has thrown for well over 1,200 yards, completing 60% of his passes and running for another 400 plus. He is a dual threat on the football field, but has excelled in track as well. His talents go beyond athletics, as he is a first-rate musician, playing the lead in the school musical and winning the school songwriting competition. A renaissance man indeed.
