Madison Warhawks 41, San Marcos Knights 7

The Madison Warhawks will be flying into the DI Championship after beating the San Marcos Knights 41-7.

Though they did not take home the win, the Knights did get on the board first. QB Bryson Bolin found Kyle Phillips for the 23-YD touchdown score. The Warhawks quickly answered back with Kenon Christon going 85 yards for the score. Before the end of the first, QB Terrell Carter put the Warhawks up 13-7 with a 37-YD touchdown.

In the second quarter, Carter found Brandon Lewis for a 35-YD touchdown pass. The Warhawks went into halftime up 20-7.

Near the top of the third, Erick Buchanan went 22 yards for his first touchdown of the night. Carter threw 39 yards to Elijah Thomas for another Warhawk touchdown. Buchanan sealed the deal for his team with a 12-YD touchdown pass. The Warhawks took the win 41-7.

The Madison Warhawks will meet the Saint Augustine Saintsmen in the DI Championship next week. PREVIEW: This week the San Marcos Knights will travel to the home of the Madison Warhawks in the Division I semifinals.

The San Marcos Knights won big last week over the Vista Panthers in the quarterfinals, taking the match 31-13. Defensive end Colin Mathiszik made a couple of big plays for the Knights including a pick six. Other big players for the Panthers include Tyler Rogers and Kyle Phillips. Rodger leads his team in rushing yards with over 450 yards this season. Phillips leads the team in receiving yards, and has over 650 yards under his belt this season.

The Knights will face off against the Madison Warhawks. Last week the Warhawks came out victorious over the Carlsbad Lancers 48-13. Key in this victory was Erick Buchanan, who scored 3 of the Warhawk touchdowns and led his team in rushing yards going 160 yards against the Lancers. Kenan Christon and Keontae Springs scored a touchdown each, helping the Warhawks to their quarterfinal win. Other Standouts for the Warhawks include Terrell Carter and Sampson Niu. Carter has racked up over 2000 passing yards. Niu, a Silver Pigskin Finalist, has over 100 tackles this season.

The winner of this game will advance to play the winner of the La Costa Canyon vs. St. Augustine game for the Division I Championship title. For highlights, watch the Prep Pigskin Report Friday at 10:30 p.m.
