LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) - A Southern California man who pleaded no contest to sexually abusing and killing his 9-year-old stepdaughter has been sentenced to 41-years-to-life in state prison.
The Long Beach Press-Telegram reports (http://bit.ly/2jmGyAi) Jacinto Zuniga was sentenced Monday, shortly after he entered pleas to first-degree murder and oral copulation with a child.
The newspaper says the 36-year-old confessed to using a razor blade to kill his stepdaughter, Xiomara Jonsales-Fernandez, after repeatedly sexually abusing her.
Zuniga was found in 2012 by a passer-by in the parking lot of a church, suffering from what appeared to be self-inflicted stab wounds. Long Beach police said at the time that Trujillo apparently attempted to kill himself after attacking the child.
