The game rapidly tied 7-7. The 1st quarter ended with Eddie Barrajas (Sr.) dodging numerous tackles for a 22-yard run that set up a 30 yard rushing touchdown by Darrion Halmilton. 2nd quarter the Spartans delivered results. PREVIEW: The one and only battle that takes us back to Greek mythology will rise from the ashes this Friday night! The Castle Park Trojans will make their way to the Chula Vista Spartans home field to battle it out in the South Bay at 7pm.
The Trojans have a current 0-3 record, last week’s game against Coronado was a dagger to the heart as they came very close to clenching their first win of the season. Castle Park was down 21-7 the first half and almost made the comeback a close score of 35-28 that went to the Islanders. That loss will not bring them down! With the determination of Quarterback Eleazar Cruz (Sr.) who is averaging 87 Passing Yards Per Game, the Spartans will have to be on the lookout for his passing game in his goal of reaching the end zone for touchdowns. Wide receiver Joel Torres (Jr.) leads the team with 164 Yards per game, if he can keep up the work, then Chula Vista will have their defensive work cut out for them.
Chula Vista returns to their home field after their first victory of the season. Last’s weeks 15-6 win over Morse puts the Spartans at a 1-2 record for the season. The Spartans are equipped with talent to carry over onto Week 5 with another win under their shield. Quarterback Darrion Hamilton has proven himself a triple threat with his passing, running and scoring abilities. He scored 1 of the touchdowns that gave the Spartans their first win. Running back Eddie Barrajas (Sr.) leads the offense with 131 Rushing Yards Per Game in the season, his speed will be fundamental in this match up. To keep the Trojans from advancing Victor Agraz (Sr.) and Ubaldo Nolasco (Sr.) will be there to put them at a halt. Victor has a total of 9.7 tackles per game and Ubaldo averages 1 sack per game.
In the 2016 season Chula Vista took the win over Castle Park 41-6, will history repeat itself or will the Trojans surprise the Spartans?
