Posted: Updated:

The Mission Hills Grizzlies continue to light up the scoreboard. Last night, they put up 41 points in a win over Avocado League rival Oceanside. The Pirates offense could only manage 3 points against the Grizzlies defense.

Grizzlies QB Jack Tuttle accounted for 4 touchdowns. He rushed 17 yards for Mission Hills first TD of the night. He would later play pitch and catch with WR Chris Olave on 3 TD passes that covered 60, 16 and 95 yards respectively. Olave finished the game with 9 catches, 266 yards and 3 touchdowns. Tuttle completed 18 of 29 passes and accounted for 371 yards with no INT’s.

The Grizzlies defense was just as impressive holding the Pirates offense to only 161 total yards in the game. The defense was led by the outstanding play of LB Samuel Dixon, who was named Homecoming King during halftime festivities. The loss marks the first time the Pirates have lost to both San Marcos High Schools in the same season. Oceanside lost last week to the San Marcos Knights. It was the first time Oceanside has lost to the Knights since 1991.

Mission Hills will try to remain undefeated on the season next week as they travel to Rancho Bernardo to take on the Broncos. The Pirates will face their second straight road test, as they make the long drive south to Chula Vista, to face Mater Dei. PREVIEW

The rivalry between the Mission Hills Grizzlies and Oceanside Pirates has intensified over the last few years. There was a time when the Pirates had the lead in the rivalry, but that time is no longer.

The Mission Hills Grizzlies are arguably the best team in the county and are led by QB Jack Tuttle, who has committed to the University of Utah. He’s joined by this weeks Mic’d up player Chris Olave. A three-sport athlete who is being recruited by a slew of colleges. The Grizzlies are 4-0 and are coming of a win against the Carlsbad Lancers

Oceanside is currently 1-2 and is coming off a 17-13 loss to San Marcos. The Pirates offensive line is MASSIVE and averages 281 pounds across the front. They’re going to have to step up big Friday night to give Pirate QB Alex Miller time to throw and open up running holes for RB Jonathan Segi.

The Pirate defense has 7 returning players from last season and will be challenged to contain the offense of the Grizzlies. Mission Hills has outscored their opponents 174-35 so far this season. If you can’t make it out to the game, be sure to tune into the Prep Pigskin Report Friday night at 10:30 for highlights of this game and many more from around the county.
