The Bishop Knights (5-0) remain undefeated after a shutout win against the Mission Bay Buccaneers (0-4).
The Knights started off strong right from kick off, Mozes Mooney brings it all the way to the Buccaneers 34 yard line which soon lead to a 2 yard touchdown pass. The Knights went for the 2 point conversion which was good, changing the score 8-0. Later Knights Jeffery Jackson find Mooney for the 9 yard touchdown pass. Still in the first quarter, Jackson find his brother Jacob Jackson for a 21 yard touchdown pass. Bishop goes for another 2 point conversion which was good, advancing the score 30-0.
Later in the second quarter, Jackson to Jackson again. It must be a brother thing, this time for a 24 yard touchdown. The comes the record breaker himself. Jackson finds Mooney for the 41 yard touchdown pass, which lead to Mooney breaking another CIF section record this time for career receiving yards.
The score 44-0 at the end of the first half.
Later in the third quarter, Jackson scrambles to find his brother, Jacob, for the collegiate one foot in grab 9 yard touchdown. It just kept getting better from there for the Knights. The night ended with a 60-0 win for Bishops.
The Knights defense played just as hard as the offense. Champion Johnson and the Knights defense had 8 sacks just in the first half.
Mozes Mooney holds the San Diego Section record for career receptions, touchdown receptions and receiving yards. The next record he can cross off his list will be career interceptions.
The win improves Bishop 5-0 and the loss drops Mission Bay 0-5. The Buccaneer will host Christian next Friday, and the Knights will have their bye week next Friday.
Head coach Joel Allen is in his 9th year with Bishop's and knows he can count on senior quarterback Jeffery Jackson who has thrown for 766 yards for 10 passing touchdowns and 18 rushing yards for one touchdown. His main target is wide receiver Mozes Mooney who has 256 receiving yards for 5 touchdowns and his own brother Jacob Jackson who has 326 receiving yards and three touchdowns. When Knights want to run the ball, they can count on Wyatt Charrette with 32 rushing yards. Charrette is also a huge force on defense with 7 tackles and three sacs. Clay Witmyer and Garth Erdossy are also huge forces on defense.
