RECAP:

The Patrick Henry and Serra Week 7 matchup went down to the last minute; with the Patriots coming out on top 25-14.

It was a back and forth affair all evening. The scoring got started with Patrick Henry’s Darius Mootry who ran in for the 6 yard touchdown.

On the following possession, Serra had a bad snap as they lined up to punt. The Patriots jumped on it to tackle the punter in the end zone, for the safety.

After a Cody Lefler field goal the Patriots dominated the first quarter going up 12-0.

The second quarter on the other hand belonged to the Conquistadors. Bryan Pratt got the Q-Dawgs on the board with a 6 yard touchdown run.

Then it was Quarterback Timmy Zebroski keeping it himself for the 4 yard touchdown run, the Conquistadors taking a 14-12 lead into the locker room.

The action didn’t get started again until the fourth quarter when the Patriots took over. Melvin Harris was the one to do it. He had 86 rushing yards in the second half alone. It was his two touchdowns that got Patrick Henry over the hump.

With 1:24 to go, the Conquistadors needed a stop on third down to get the ball back. Instead, Melvin Harris went 40 yards down the field to ice the game for the Patriots winning 25-14.

The Patriots get their first league win (1-0) while the Conquistadors lose their fourth straight game against the Patriots.

Next week the Conquistadors (2-4) host University City, and the Patriots (2-4) visit La Jolla.

PREVIEW: The Week 7 matchup between the Patriots of Patrick Henry (1-4) and the Conquistadors of Serra (2-3) looks to be one of the most exciting games of the week.

It is the first City League contest of 2017 for both schools. These two teams met in 2016 when the Patriots won 34-0, eventually winning the 2016 City League Title.

Patrick Henry is coming off their bye week and are looking to extend their win streak to two games.

Junior Ethan Gomez has lead the Patriots’ offense this season. Gomez has thrown for 699 yards and ran for an additional 228 yards. He has also found the end zone 6 times this season.

Junior Carlito Nothalf has also been a standout for Patrick Henry. On offense, he has rushed for 238 yards and 3 touchdowns. On defense, he has lead the team with 31 total tackles.

The Patriots have a strong core of senior wide receivers lead by Tyjhay Reid and Brett Allen who have received a combined 408 yards.

For Serra, Sophomore standout Timmy Zebroski has been a spark for the conquistador offense. Zebroski has thrown for 886 yards and 7 touchdowns. He has also rushed for 162 yards and another 5 touchdowns.

Junior Myles Bryant has rushed for 518 yards and has found the end zone 6 times this season.

Just like the Patriots, Serra has a strong core of seniors in the wide receiver position. Seniors Benolter Gambles, TJ Silvestri, Chance Cannon, and Tysheid Dixon have combined for 778 receiving yards.

On the defensive side of the ball, Kieve Curry has lead the team with 62 total tackles.
