The Patrick Henry and Serra Week 7 matchup went down to the last minute; with the Patriots coming out on top 25-14.
It was a back and forth affair all evening. The scoring got started with Patrick Henry’s Darius Mootry who ran in for the 6 yard touchdown.
On the following possession, Serra had a bad snap as they lined up to punt. The Patriots jumped on it to tackle the punter in the end zone, for the safety.
After a Cody Lefler field goal the Patriots dominated the first quarter going up 12-0.
The second quarter on the other hand belonged to the Conquistadors. Bryan Pratt got the Q-Dawgs on the board with a 6 yard touchdown run.
Then it was Quarterback Timmy Zebroski keeping it himself for the 4 yard touchdown run, the Conquistadors taking a 14-12 lead into the locker room.
The action didn’t get started again until the fourth quarter when the Patriots took over. Melvin Harris was the one to do it. He had 86 rushing yards in the second half alone. It was his two touchdowns that got Patrick Henry over the hump.
With 1:24 to go, the Conquistadors needed a stop on third down to get the ball back. Instead, Melvin Harris went 40 yards down the field to ice the game for the Patriots winning 25-14.
The Patriots get their first league win (1-0) while the Conquistadors lose their fourth straight game against the Patriots.
Next week the Conquistadors (2-4) host University City, and the Patriots (2-4) visit La Jolla.
