We can rest easy tonight as another week of the Prep Pigskin Report has concluded. It was an offensive battle at El Camino High School as La Costa Canyon ultimately won 38-21 over the Wildcats.
The La Costa Canyon Mavericks remain undefeated, improving their record to 6-0. They are currently sitting at the top of the Avocado League standings along with the Mission Hills Grizzlies. Being that the Mavericks and Grizzlies have both yet to lose thus far this season, it will be a matchup to follow next week as the two schools face off at La Costa Canyon High School.
As far as tonight’s matchup went, the quarterback for La Costa Canyon, Jake Neufeld, and a wide receiver for El Camino, Malachi Russell, were both named the National Football Foundation Players of the Game. Neufeld rushed for three touchdowns for La Costa Canyon and Russell had a 70-yard touchdown catch and more than 100 yards receiving for El Camino.
Next week, the Wildcats have another home game against the Fallbrook Warriors. El Camino will be searching to improve their .500 overall record of 3-3.

PREVIEW: We are in for a thriller as we approach Week 7 of the Prep Pigskin Report! The undefeated La Costa Canyon Mavericks will be visiting their conference opponents, the El Camino Wildcats.
The story for La Costa Canyon in the 2017 season has been nothing but success. The Mavericks have averaged 38.6 points per game while staying victorious throughout. La Costa Canyon is attempting to keep their status as one of the most prestigious teams in the Avocado League, being that the Mission Hills Grizzlies and the San Marcos Knights are also undefeated. They have played just one league game against the Carlsbad Lancers, which they won 36-21.
For the home team, they have been led by their head coach, Jerry Ralph, as they are 1-1 in their conference and 3-2 overall. In Week 4, the Wildcats hosted the Torrey Pines Falcons and won by a score of 42-31. Before their bye last week, they went on a road trip to San Marcos to take on the Knights and lost 36-14.
It will not be a light task for the Wildcats to take down the Mavericks, as they will probably need to put up more than their average 25.6 points per game to compete and win.
Please feel encouraged to tune into the Prep Pigskin Report this Friday night at 10:30 p.m., to see the highlights from this game and 33 others around San Diego County. Also, it will be Youth Football and Cheer Night at El Camino this Friday night, so there is more excitement ahead!
