Monte Vista dominates the Corvette Diner Alarm Clock Pep Rally game, beating Mount Miguel 35-0.
The Monarchs taking care of business in all three facets of the game. Jahmon McClendon would have a big night scoring three touchdowns including a 45 yard scamper that took them all the way down to the one yard line for the easy score. He would finish with 150 yards on the ground. The defense saw big plays by defensive lineman Elshadai Levi. He had two sacks in the first half and one for a safety. Kicker Jason Hernandez nailed two field goals including one for 44 yards. Terell Kyle started the scoring with a 56 yard touchdown run.
Mount Miguel struggled to get the offense going in large part to losing their quarter back Mugabe Miller in the first quarter. Previous to that injury, running back Shermar Greene had several good runs that got the Matadors into scoring territory. Miller hit Larry Yzaguirre to put the Matadors to within 5 of the goal line. Then Miller was sacked by the Monarch's Levi and left the game with an apparent injury.
The Monarchs improve to 3-3. They will host Santana in Week 8. The Matadors drop to 2-5. They will head to El Cajon Valley next week.
The Week 7 Corvette Diner Alarm Clock Pep Rally Game brings us to Monte Vista as they face Mount Miguel High School.
The Monarch’s are 2-3 on the season and coming off their bye week. They rely heavily on running back Jahmon McClendon. He had 5 rushing touchdowns in the game against Patrick Henry and 4 against Mar Vista, both games Monte Vista was able to win. The Monarch’s are coming off a disappointing but valiant effort against Bishop’s. The Monte Vista defense depends on Blake Schmidt.
Mount Miguel is 2-4 this season under Shaun McDade. They are led by senior QB Mugabe Miller who has 8 touchdowns on the season. Running back Shemar Greene has been excellent on the ground for the Matadors. He has 593 rushing yards this season with just 2 touchdowns. Mount Miguel is coming off a tough loss against Madison but has wins this season against Chula Vista and Imperial. They will look to rebound in Week 7.
This Spring Valley rivalry has Mount Miguel leading 9-4 since 2004. Mount Miguel lost to Monte Vista 36-21 last season.
